Backdating unemployment

You need to file a weekly claim for each week you are unemployed and wish to receive benefits, including your first or “waiting week.“ If there are any issues on your claim to investigate, be sure to respond to all letters or phone messages right away.

Any time we deny benefits, we send you a decision explaining why we denied benefits, for what time period, how to requalify, and how to appeal if you disagree.

If there are no problems on your claim, you can expect your weekly claim filed on Sunday or Monday to be processed on Monday night.

I called in and told my boss I couldn’t go in because I was vomiting and was told that’s fine.

The next day I went in still sick but I tried to just work through it and couldn’t.

You may be scheduled to attend a meeting at a Work Source Oregon center.

If you do not go, your benefits will be delayed while we investigate.

These wages must have been earned during a 52 week period that is called a base year.

Base Year Period Your regular base year period consists of 52 weeks that is determined by the date of your claim.

Important: You must claim the week in order for it to be your Waiting Week.

Simply filing your application does not give you credit for your waiting week. If no other issues arise, your first payment will be issued in the third week.

To be eligible for New Jersey unemployment benefits, you must have worked at least 20 base weeks in covered employment or you must have earned $7,300.
